Application Process with contact details
I found it on Lawctopus, sent an applications, attached cv’s and an essay on child beggary, I got selected on the basis of my CV and the essay and was called for the internship.
Duration of internship and timings
15th – 30th June, 2015
First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure
We worked in a govt. School, first day was a little hectic but all of it was a lot of fun. There were no first day formalities, we were each paired in a team of 4 and started our work from day one.
We would teach the students of slum area in the morning from 9-2 and would go for our survey related to child beggary in the evening.
Main tasks
Main task was to teach the poor kids and conduct a survey regarding child beggars in the city.
We had been allotted different sectors , we would go there everyday and notice child beggars and try and extract some information regarding there whereabouts.
Work environment and people
Everyone was very helpful and it was a wonderful experience to have worked with all the team members and the coordinators.
Best things
The best thing was that we got to know so many kids.
We taught them and came to know about hidden talents that many of them possessed but the sad part was none of them had any sources or exposure to be able to do what they are so good at.
Bad things
Only weather was the bad thing during that time. It was very hot, it was a task to look out for child beggars in scorching heat.
Stipend
None
Biggest Lessons
Biggest lesson was that never give a penny to child beggars, they never get to keep that money.
They will either use it to take drugs or people who send them to beg will take that money.
So don’t ever encourage child beggars, we see their innocent faces and immediately want to pay a penny or two, but we should not do it.
