Application Process

It is a State run organization and mostly mandates no formal application procedure.

You may simply walk up to their office and speak to the Secretary to the Chairman, who shall then arrange for a meet with the Chairman and you may join the office as and when she suggests.

Duration of internship and timings

3 weeks. Monday-Friday. 11 A.M. to 4 A.M. There were days where one could get free by 3 P.M. as well.

First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure

The office is pretty okay for the first impression. One floor extended and a lot of divisions and sub-divisions in between. There was no formality as such, except for reporting to the Chairman.

However, you do not have to report to her each day, but to the concerned person under whom you shall be working for throughout the sprint.

You get to sign an attendance sheet everyday, but as the flexible novelties of a State Organization apropos interns is concerned, you may choose to skip this process and none shall squeak a word at you! Interns are assigned to one staff and they get to have their own workplace.

Main tasks

Main task would be going through cases, attend meetings and have small discussions in certain matters.

Screening through cases could be a pain since they are all in the local language.

Work here is quite monotonous and for days at a stretch you won’t have any work. However, if you are under the right person, you may be involved in bulk-some work.

Work environment and people

The work atmosphere is drab. There is dearth of work assigned to interns. A lot of monotony prevails.

You get to see the most intricate of issues associated with the females of our society, though. Their issues just as might touch your heart.

When you attend meetings, you see how the parties argue and no matter how unreasonable they may sound, well, that is reality out there for you.

The staff on the other hand is not as approachable.

There was the tiniest bit of preference over female interns than the males, funnily. Nonetheless, this should not count as a deterrent to approach them for anything you may need.

Biggest Lessons

It was a relaxing three week internship. Except for a lot of talking with co-interns, there is nothing more sincere to do.

Not recommended for a legal internship, by the way!
