First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure

You need to submit your curriculum vitae in hard copy to the secretary at the office who is in-charge of maintaining record of the interns.

Basic introduction to yourself which includes name, year of studying, college, postal address, etc is asked by him along with CV.

Main tasks

The main task which I did during my internship period was research work on various subjects such as constitutional law, arbitration matters, intellectual property rights matter, property matter which involved licensing of property.

Your research skills would be enhanced at Kasliwal Chambers as there are commentaries available for all subjects along with access to legal research sites such as manupatra, SCC online.

Work environment and people

The work environment is good, associates are co-operative, but if you are willing to learn something at your internship you need to keep seeking work from the associates, only a few times they would handover work to you on their own.

Best things

Best thing is that tea offered twice a day with great smile, and the associates are co-operative too.

Bad things

There is no separate space for the interns to sit, sometimes they have to occupy the waiting area at the reception and PC’s are not available in adequate number, which are most of the time pre-occupied by the associates.

If manupatra is being accessed at one of the PC in the office it cannot be accessed by another person on another PC until the previous user sings off.

Biggest Lessons

The biggest lesson I learned is that being humble to everyone you meet is the most valuable feed back you can give to the persons who visit your office, research skills are enhanced as you learn to read commentaries and how to access legal research sites.

Accommodation

I am a domicile at Jaipur, so it was convenient to travel through cab.

Office Timings

As I had interned in the month of June so the timings were from 12:00 pm to 06:00 pm, and the timings were strict, if you’re caught coming late to the office you need to be prepared for the consequences.
