Name of Organisation, Location, Team Strength
Mr. Vijay Jindal, Ex- Addl. Advocate General, Punjab and Haryana High Court, Chandigarh, 3-4.
Application Process
Speaking frankly, I interned with Mr. Jindal as he is a family friend and I did not have to go through any kind of application process.
Nonetheless, there is no process as such and you can contact him for internship on his e-mail id- jindal367@yahoo.com
Duration of internship and timings
I interned during the month of July for one month.
We used to reach the High Court at 10.00 a.m. and usually we used to get free by 2.00 p.m.
In the evening, we had to go to his office at 5.00 p.m. and there we used to work for 2-3 hours.
First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure
Mr. Jindal is not too strict. There was not much work during initial days.
We used to follow him to different court-rooms and witness the proceedings.
Then, sir used to ask questions relating to those proceedings.
Also, on the very first day, we were made to go around the whole complex of the High Court with one of the juniors so that we don’t face any kind of difficulty.
Main tasks
Basically, we were required to go through the case briefs and then find out the case laws for the same.
Whenever there was a new case, we were made to read the basic documents like Panchnama report, statement of witnesses, Judgment of District Court etc.
We also helped in the research work along with sir.
We were made to sit and listen whenever dictation was given to stenographer.
Work environment and people
The work environment was good and everyone around was cooperating.
Everyone from Mr. Jindal to his juniors and even munshi helped us in our confusions.
Best things
The best thing is that you get to learn a lot about the very basic things.
We also got to know how to present one’s case in court before the judge.
Once, we were also asked to prepare a case the way we would have had prepared if we would have been an advocate.
Bad things
As such, I didn’t find any bad thing.
Stipend
No stipend.
Biggest Lessons
The biggest thing that I learnt was hard work is the only way to success.
Any Other Thing
The canteen of High Court is good. it has everything from coffee to lunch.
Nearby places to visit are Rock garden and Sukhana lake.
The most sought out area of Chandigarh i.e. sector 17 is also not far away.
