First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure
The office is pretty huge. There are close to 6 divisions, each headed by a divisional associate.
Main tasks
I interned in the merges and acquisitions team. My main task was reading several treaties and agreements between India and other countries. Mostly, I was given the task of understanding a scheme of arrangement and fining specific loopholes in it.
I took about 2 days to understand the different schemes of arrangement. As I was still a beginner, I didn’t find may faults at first. By the end of the internship, I could rectify them without any help.
Work environment and people
The people were very friendly and approachable. All interns were assigned a Buddy, who would take care of their needs and introduce them to the people around the office.
The M&A team consisted of 10 persons. So, I really liked interning in a small team.
Best things
1. As this was my first non law firm internship, I could see the other side of the corporate world.
2. The canteen had some of the best food!
3. The vending machine never broke down.
4. I learnt a lot here than what I had learnt in college about company laws.
Bad things
My place of accommodation was extremely far off, so I spent majority of my time travelling. I’ll blame myself for it.

Corporate world isn’t as serious and tight upper lip as they seem! They work hard and party harder!
