First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure
On the first day, the intern is allotted to a counselor by the department/cell supervisor. The counselor were very friendly and they allot work to the interns from the first day itself.
Infrastructure is satisfactory, the building is very old and in some parts of the building proper ventilation.
Main tasks
Assisting the counselor to file brief transmission report which have to be forwarded to the member secretary of the commission and police or other authorities.
Work environment and people
The people were generally nice though the people are quite informal with the interns and are approachable. Sometimes, the intern is asked to handle calls under complainants.
Best things
Witness counseling victims of sexual harassment, dowry, domestic violence etc along with the counselor was a unique experience and which showed the discrimination and apathy faced by the women of India.
Bad things
Sometimes when the counselor is attending a meeting, the intern has to face helpless complainants and they expect the intern to take some action.

Biggest Lessons
There is still a huge gender gap in the country owing to venomous number of cases reaching the commission everyday filed by the helpless victims.
Any Other Thing
This is a must internship for those who want to practice in the area of women’s rights and feminist activism.
