Duration of internship and timings
1 month.
Timings were very flexible from 10 am to 6 pm.
Its only Monday to Friday, however if you don’t have much to do you can leave by 4 or 5 pm.
First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure
Being the first day of internship, the layer asked me to report to him at his chambers at 10.00 am sharp.
We had an initial discussion on primarily knowing about my academic & family background, since both of us belong to same college we also had a light hearted discussion about the premise & the faculty.
Post that his associate helped to take a tour of the Supreme Court & the basic administration set up of the biggest judicial body of our country.
It was a small office well equipped with basic amenities like computer facility, legal books & subject matter& air conditioning.
Main tasks
My work schedule began at 10.00 am to 3.00 pm, after that I have to go to the chambers.
Post lunch as instructed by the lawyer I attended the judicial proceeding held at various court rooms across the premise generally till 3.00 pm, as the profession requires oneself to be good listener.
I together with other interns & the lawyer, discussed the proceeding that we attended, I also engaged in various research work primarily including understanding various judgement s under different article of constitution of India.
I was also trained for drafting and filling of Special Leave Petition (SLP).
Work environment and people
The work environment was completely professional.
All the advocates were apparently dressed in suits & robes, as stipulated by the Indian judicial system.
In term of work & learning I was provided with necessary guidance which is continuously helping me to shape up my future prospectus, on personal basis the more sophisticated the lawyers looked, the more friendly they were outside the court room.
Best things
The working environment was quiet friendly and there was not so much of restriction on the interns, working in the Supreme Court is the best thing I ever had being a law student.
