First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure

The office is situated at the centre of Thalasseri (Kannur) town. Office is not big and also not that fancy. He is a civil lawyer and doesn’t take that many interns but I was fortunate to do it with him.

He is one of the senior most civil lawyer of Thalasseri court. Being a friendly person he asked me to sit with him in his office.

Main tasks

The main task I was assigned was to go to Principle Session Court and listen to arguments and cross examination of various cases. After that I was told to go to his office and refer to some important judgments.

Sometimes he even asks me to accompany him to Alternative Dispute Resolution Centre.

Work environment and people

Work environment is very friendly and you will be working directly under his guidance. He is highly interested in making you understand what you are doing. Even the clerical staff is pretty nice and will assist you in every possible way.

Best things

1. Distance from his office to court is just few minutes away.

2. Time is flexible there and interns are free to leave office with his permission if they have any important work to do.

3. Also since he is practising at Session court interns can easily come across his amazing cross examination skills and several other important procedures.

4. The location of his office is near the Thalasseri beach so after doing internship the interns can go to the beach and relax.

Bad things

Since he is a busy advocate interns rarely get time to talk to him and clear their doubts.

Stipend

No stipend.

Biggest Lessons

Learnt a lot from him especially the basics of civil procedure code. But the biggest lesson learnt was on how to conduct a cross examination and also a case on mediation.
