Advocate Anand Venkatesh, Madras High Court, Chennai
Application Process
Started internship with a class mate who recommended me to the advocate.
There is no application process. Have to meet the advocate and his associates and request for an internship.
Duration of internship and timings
4th August, 2014 – 5th October, 2014
First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure
There weren’t much of formalities. Had to introduce myself and tell a few words about my aim. As this was an internship under an advocate had to daily communicate with him.
The office was near the High Court so attending Court sessions were easy. When there was no Court session me and the other intern used to sit along with the advocate and take notes.
The office was small but very comfortable. It had a nice corporate law firm look.
Main tasks
Main tasks were attending Court sessions, taking notes and dictation.
Had to type few documents from home and send it the next day.
Work environment and people
The work environment was awesome. Mr. Anand and his associates were very friendly. He used to clear any doubt and explain each and every point of a case. He even used to buy us tea and snacks in the evenings. 😀
The internship was fun filled as well as a very good learning experience.
Best things
The court visits were the best things. We were able to witness the court proceedings. We even got the chance to witness a cross examination by Mr. Anand.
Bad things
There were no bad thing about the internship
Stipend
No stipend
Biggest Lessons
One of the biggest lesson learnt is discipline and hard work from sir. He had all the cases filed with him.
He showed us how he started working by taking notes of every single point from landmark judgments which showcases his hardworking nature.
