First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure
This was our first internship in the district court so I was very eager to get that ‘Lawyer wali feeling’ as we were going to intern under one of the top criminal lawyers of the district. Sir is a very kind and humble person. He treated me like his son. There were no formalities. He allowed us to observe things and learn at our own pace.
As compared to the space crunch all over, Sir has one of the biggest chambers of the district which he shares with Sir Atul Kumar Bhargava, Sir Ranjeet Diwakar, and Sir Hariom Sharma who is the top criminal lawyers of the state. The Firm mainly focuses on cases of Criminal Offences, MACT, Consumer Protection Act, Civil Cases also.
The first impression which I would never forget would be of the Family Law Court which I entered first and the Judge sitting there. Most of the cases were divorce cases or Dacoity cases, Rape cases, Dowry cases however the amusing thing.
Main tasks
Since we had just completed our first year and did not possess much knowledge about civil or criminal law, Sir did not burden us with work. Rather he allowed us to observe things on our own and also guide us how to proceed further, he asked us to read files and observe the sections charged by the parties and then research them in the bare acts or the other relevant sources, books of the case. Such as CPC, CrPC, IPC etc. Sir Also told me the procedure of both the proceedings civil and criminal and himself used to teach us how to form issues of the cases.
Our task was to join him in Court proceedings and observe them in how he is taking the evidences and how he is using his arguments to convince the judge.
I also learned the basics of Court mannerism, drafting i.e. to fill up the necessary forms, making required notice and preparing required documents of the case which are to be used next day in front of the judge.
I learned the procedure of how the arguments is made, evidences are conducted.
It was overall a very nice experience.
Work environment and people
I could not have asked for a better mentor in the District. Despite their hectic work load, Sir as well as his other partners were always very helpful.
As having advantage of doing internship at my hometown I got many people supporting me during these 8 weeks internship. I not only saw the proceedings of the district civil or criminal court but also I visited Consumer court, MACT Court. Which help me a lot to know my field of interest in which I liked to work the most. We had sometimes parties also. The environment was really cool.
Best things
Meeting top lawyers of my District. Learning many new things and knowing the value of professionalism, hard work, and punctuality.
Lots of street food and ample time to enjoy at home .What else could I have asked for?
Bad things
There was no such bad things on part of the firm, but on a personal note I felt there were some time where we didn’t have the judges in their chambers as it is the time of summer. Some courts have vacations or public holidays like the civil courts. Sometimes the judges refuses to take any case and sometimes they were on holidays personally.
The Court mannerism in the District court was not as such which we were taught or have been practicing in the college.
Stipend
Rs. 3000 per month.
Biggest Lessons
Everything was a lesson for me. I learned to be a good lawyer you have to be punctual, hardworking, and Goal oriented person. I learned Professional skills from him to be a good lawyer.

It was my home town so stayed at home only. But there are PG available in the city.
