Duration of internship and timings
1st May, 2014 – 31st May, 2014
First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure
On the very first day the interns were made to wait outside the office for nearly two hours. After which the advocate’s personal assistant arrived only to tell us that the office will remain closed.
There were no formalities conducted. In my experience they were hardly bothered by the fact that we were present or not. It was very small and dingy office with a seating capacity of 3-4 people.
Main tasks
The main tasks involved the interns to read various case files and prepare a case note or rather a summary of it while attending the various court meetings and hearings with the concerned advocate.
Work environment and people
The advocates were barley concerned as to what the interns are doing and he would not recognised us until we pointed out to him that we have been working here as interns for over a month.
There were one or two occasions where we were briefed about the cases only to be not recognised by that very person the next day.
Best things
The best thing about interning here is that even though the time limits are prescribed there is no compulsion for you to sit in the office till 5:00 pm as hardly anyone is bothered.
Also because of this fact you will get to explore a lot of CP and various good restauraunts around there as there is no work.
Bad things
In my experience, the interns were made work more like personal assistants as all we did in court hearings were carry files and roam in search of our internship guide/advocate as there was no clear cut coordination from his team as to where we were supposed to meet and at what time?
