Application Process
To intern for IOCL you will have to approach Mr. BR Rout who is the Law Manager. He will ask you to get a recommendation letter from your law school signed by your principal along with your CV or bio data along with a passport sized photograph. After few weeks of waiting they will send you a mail confirming if you can intern under IOCL.
Duration of internship and timings
I started interning at IOCL from 11th May till 20th May.
First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure
When I went to IOCL for the first time I was flattered by the massive beautiful and well equipped building. It was really overwhelming for me as it was my first internship and I got the chance to work for such a well reputed company. Apart from the well carved building the people there were equally humble interactive and helpful.
My first day went quite “GOOD” as Mr. Shoaib who was working as the Law officer under Mr. BR Rout commented. He was our guide during our internship journey at IOCL. For the first day we were asked with basic questions as to how to open a retail outlet and the various schemes. Later on we were given case files to study.
Main tasks
The main task in IOCL was to prepare a project on the given case file. We had to study the case file and prepare a project related to the case.
Work environment and people
IOCL has wonderful helpful and responsive officers and the work environment is quite peaceful.
Best things
The best thing about IOCL was that we could learn a lot of stuffs being the first thing and the second thing is getting an opportunity like this to work for such a big company and plus the food at the canteen was to die for.
Bad things
There is no bad thing about IOCL. It was my first internship and I was quite contented with it.
Stipend
None
Biggest Lessons
The biggest lesson that I learnt from IOCL was that building a huge empire like the Indian Oil Corporation Limited was not an easy thing for the Government of India and I feel quite privileged being a small part of it.
