The Interested students can call their office and inquire about the email address on which the  CV’s along with cover letter specifying the duration of the internship are to be sent.

Duration of Internship and Timings

I interned from 1st Dec to 30th Dec, 2017.

Timings: 11:30 am – 2:30 pm (Office Timings).

Timings are flexible.

An intern is supposed to reach the office at 11:30 am before Munshi Sir and other Associates arrive.

Students in 4th and 5th year are supposed to help the Associates in the evening when all the drafting and researching work takes place.

First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure

There is no formality as such. An intern needs to submit his/her updated CV in the office so that they can keep a record.

When it comes to Infrastructure Mr. Munshi’s Office is well known for its Library. Trust me. Its huge.

He has collection of all old and new books including journals, Manuals etc.

Interns were supposed to sit between the book shelves and for someone who is passionately in love with books; this place was heaven.

Main tasks

I researched on the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955 and Hindu Adoption and Maintenance Act, 1956 and various Acts as requires by the Associates for their cases.

Junior interns were supposed to read various case files and that’s what I did.

Work environment and people

Ok so when it comes to the people, I would take the pleasure to say that Mr. Munshi a man in his late 70’s is a renowned Supreme Court Advocate imparting exceptional judicial services to the Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh states for more than 51 successful years.

His loving nature gave every intern a vibe of working under a super cute yet stern Grandfather like figure.

Any problem, any questions or any help one can just go and directly meet him  or any associate for solutions and they are more than willing to help the interns.

Best things

The best thing is you get to learn directly from Mr. V K Munshi who is a gem of a person with a lot of experience in his field.

He has subscriptions to SCC online, Manupatra and many other legal database which makes our (Interns) life easier.

Every day Mr. Munshi treats his interns and personally sees that every intern is enjoying it.

Bad things

Since I haven’t study procedural laws  sometimes I was pretty jobless because half of the things were unknown to me.

Stipend

Depends on the number of weeks you have interned. I got Rs. 3000 as my stipend.

Biggest Lessons

This was my first internship in any litigation firm  after joining HNLU, Raipur. I was of the view that Litigation as a career takes a lot of time and effort but by the end of my internship I had this sudden realization that Litigation as a career can be persuaded because you work for yourself, you don’t have to take orders or commands, work in whatever way you want to and survive your life.
