First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure

First day of the internship was a disappointment as the court was closed for summer holidays.

I was asked to report to Mr. Souvik Kundu, who also on account of the court being closed was a little complacent.

Main tasks

As I was in my 2nd year and the majority of the work which happened was relating to the civil disputes, it was very difficult to find a proper work for me.

But then once I got familiar with the stuff, I was asked to prepare brief on arbitration matters, make documents pertaining to list of dates, and case synopsis.

Work environment and people

Work environment was very easy going initially but as I got familiar, then the work started flowing in large numbers.

The number of people working in the firm is less yet the efficiency is pretty high. The people are very much work-centric but the environment is very homely.

You would never feel out of place in such an environment.

Best things

Best thing is the nature of the people and the number of cases that the firm deals in.

The plethora of cases doesn’t leave space for idle time and boredom.

Bad things

The exact location can be a little tricky to spot, the building contains a lot of other firms and people whoa are extra health conscious would not find it an ideal place to survive.

But for people like me who somehow survive its very good place to intern.

Biggest Lessons

Never to do an internship under the solicitor firm as early as 2nd year.

It takes a lot more than just legal sense to match with the working of the firm.

Accommodation

Stayed at my uncle’s house.
