
About the organization
Rural Technology & Development Centre (RTDC), Palampur, Himachal Pradesh is a voluntary action group, founded in 1988. Over the last 30 years, RTDC has played an instrumental role in facilitating the process of equity based mountain-specific people-centered development that is founded on the values of sustainability and inclusiveness in the state of Himachal Pradesh.
RTDC works with marginalized groups such as Mountain Dalits, scheduled tribes, OBCs, women and children, persons with disability (PWD), safai kaamgaars (manual scavengers), displaced people, nomadic communities and religious minorities. Currently, the key thematic area of our work is land and property rights of the poor and the landless.
Internship Details/Roles and Responsibilities
We are looking for interns, preferably from a legal background (candidates from other educational backgrounds with exceptional experience in policy research and campaigns may also apply), to support us with research, advocacy and development of suitable strategies, campaigns and interventions for the following causes:
- Inclusive, equitable and fair inclusion of communities within the Land Reforms Act based on the findings of Socio – Economic Caste census 2011.
- Discrimination free educational institutions, and discrimination free panchayats (freedom from caste, gender and disability based discrimination and exclusion).
- Inclusive and effective implementation of Human Rights protection laws, the Forest Rights Act, the Right to Education Act, the Right to Food Act and other welfare legislation.
Internship period
At least four weeks, beginning as soon as possible.
Location
In and around Palampur city, Himachal Pradesh.
Stipend
This is an unpaid internship. Accommodation shall be provided by RTDC within Palampur. Depending on total number of interns, travel expenses within Palampur tehsil may be partially covered.

This will be an exciting and intensive internship that will involve both research and field work. We are looking for committed, passionate, energetic, and innovative interns who are ready to go the extra mile and will display leadership through ownership.
