Name of Organisation
Kerala Legal Service Authority, High Court of Kerala, Kochi. The team I was working with had 5 people.
Application Process
Anyone can apply by sending an email to: kelsakerala@gmail.com
Duration of Internship
I interned for three weeks from June 1st – June 20.
First Impression
Infrastructure is decent for a government office.
Interns are seated in a separate conference room.
The Mentor, Mrs. Shyja was very welcoming.
We were taken on court visits on the first day.
Main Tasks
The main tasks involved reading mediation cases, making reports for NALSA by compiling information from the district offices, social survey and spreading legal awareness by creating a Facebook page.
Work Environment and People
Work environment is not thrilling.
There is not much work to do apart from court visits.
But, the mentor makes all the effort to make us experience every procedure of court.
So, that is a plus.
Best Things
Experiencing the proceedings at Lok Adalats.
Bad Things
There is no schedule for interns.
One can come at any time one pleases to, sit idle and leave anytime.
One should go behind the staff for work.
Though the mentor is really good, she will not be at the office everyday due to field work etc.
Stipend
No Stipend
Biggest Lessons
You may choose to not intern for an entire month.
Coordinate with the office in advance.
Any Other Thing
One should prepare an internship report, detailing all that one did and submit the same.
Only then will they issue certificates.
Make sure your name and course is spelt correctly on the certificate too.
