Vidhi invites applications for the post of Research Fellow for its office in Bengaluru, Karnataka.
About Vidhi
The Vidhi Centre for Legal Policy is an independent think tank doing legal research and assisting government in making better laws.
Vidhi is committed to producing legal research of the highest standard with the aim of informing public debate and contributing to improved governance.
Vidhi works with Ministries of the Government of India and State Governments, as well as other public institutions, providing research and drafting support at various stages of law-making.
Vidhi also conducts and freely disseminates independent research in areas of legal reform which it believes is critical to India’s future.
Vidhi currently has its main office in New Delhi.
Focus areas for the fellowship
o Public law which will include constitutional law, administrative law and allied issues in public law
o Corporate law and financial regulation.
Role Description
The Research Fellow will work as an integral part of Vidhi and will be required to undertake research, analysis and legislative drafting for engaged projects as well as independent projects taken on by Vidhi at its own behest.
She/he will be expected to work on engaged projects with the Karnataka Government and commissions by providing research and drafting support at various stages of law-making.
The fellow will also work on independent projects on critical legal issues, where she/he will endeavor to propose reforms to existing laws, thereby intending to have a significant impact in the development of such laws.
The expected output from the research work will be in the form of research reports and draft legislations and regulations.
Eligibility Criteria
Essential requirements
o A bachelor’s degree in law;
o Demonstrable interest in the field of public law or corporate law and /or financial regulation (interest in either of the fields will suffice);
o Graduated between 2013 and 2017.
Desirable requirements
o Candidates with master’s and doctoral degrees in the above-mentioned disciplines, and/or comparable work experience;
o Candidates who have academic publications to their credit in the above-mentioned disciplines.
Duration
Full time position based in Bengaluru for a minimum duration of one year.
Renewal is subject to mutual agreement between the Research Director and the fellow.
Remuneration
A competitive remuneration package corresponding to experience and qualifications shall
be offered, starting from INR 55,000.
Number of fellowships
The position is open for three Research Fellows.
