First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure

The Directors of the Academy were very friendly to me. They made me sit through the presentations of the trainee officers on various subjects. During the lunch break I was assigned a topic for paper presentation in the Academy which is compulsory. After that again I was asked to sit through the presentation of the trainee officers.

The infrastructure is very good. I had to sit only in the Training Hall and it was well air conditioned and spacious. During each and every break we were provided with food from the Academy itself.

Main tasks

The main task was the paper presentation. We were assigned a topic on which we had to research and present a paper. We could access the Academy library for the same.

We also had to sit through the presentations of the trainee officers on various subjects that they were assigned.

Work environment and people

The work environment and the people very friendly. We could approach them for any doubts and they would solve it for us. They were very helpful and knew us all in person. When we would sit down to hear the presentation of the trainee officers the Directors would make sure that we too interacted when they had an interactive session. The trainee officers also helped us a lot and ended up being good friends for us.

Best things

The best thing would have been the opportunity to meet the trainee officers from different walks of life finally all ending up in the same rank. It made us feel that we could also be one of them if we tried.

The appreciation that you get from the Directors and the trainee officers when you do a good paper presentation is also really great.

Bad things

There weren’t much bad things as such. Except maybe the fact that when we had to sit through presentations of trainee officers without much interactive sessions or when the presentation was not that interesting it could get pretty boring.

Biggest Lessons

The biggest lesson I learned is how to dissect law and twist it in ways so as to confer maximum justice to the people. The main aim of the Directors were to make the trainees and us think outside the box. We were taught to give different dimensions to a problem than one which a normal person would attribute to it.

It also taught me how a judge should be impartial and follow the law as such without any bias or personal preferences or prejudices.

I stayed at my relatives’ place.

Office Timings

We had very strict timing which started at 10 and ended at 5. We had a tea break at 11:30 am and 3:30 pm and lunch break from 1 pm to 2 pm.
