How big was the office?
Not a big office. If it’s your first internship, do not go with any preconceived notions and hopes.
It so happened in my case, but all the people are easy going and inspirational and it motivates one to work.
The ambiance and organized system gives the taste of real working simulation in an office. The office secretary out there who handles all the work and keeps you motivated.
Application procedure
Application can be sent to either office secretary or direct to the general secretary (Ms. Kavita Srivastava) at pucl.rajasthan@gmail.com or kavisriv@gmail.com
They follow a systematic and transparent procedure and reply back within a week or so.
It’s advisable to call them once you mail your CV.
Duration in weeks. No. of days/week
I worked there for nearly 4 weeks, 6 days a week.
One thing they are not flexible about is the timing.
One has to strictly adhere to the Office timings 9 am in the morning till 8 pm till evening.
One may be released an hour before if done with his assignment.
Accommodation
The other reason I applied for an internship with PUCL, Jaipur was because I wanted to roam around the pink city with my friends, so accommodation was not an issue for me but one can easily avail a P.G on rent and even the office people can arrange it nearby.
First impression
When I stepped into PUCL, I was nervous thinking about people reaction towards me and work I will be assigned but the people were easy going and the way the secretary handles the entire office is the inspirational part of the organization.
They were hardworking, tough and caring people.
Main tasks
The most curious and awaited part of first internship is what work you will be assigned?
If you are expecting too much work, well that is not going to happen.
Interns were usually asked for research work which was mostly field work, we went to schools and several organizations had interaction with them and prepared the report and submitted it to the General Secretary.
But its was fun and great learning experience indeed.
Best things
The people working in PUCL and the secretary inspired me to become more pro-active and emphatic.
Bad things
Timings: no flexibility.
What did you do to chill?
As I went there with my friends, every time we got chance we roamed around the city and had a great time out there.
Stipend/ month
No Stipend – well sometimes it doesn’t matter as its give you so much to learn as money can’t buy everything.
