Duration of internship and timings
15th December, 2015 – 12th January, 2016
First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure
On my first day, we had a guest lecture regarding women rights and education including some activities regarding the same as well. There were too many new people from different Law colleges and amongst them there were also few students who were managing the things and the students as volunteers
Main tasks
We had lots of guest lectures and discussions on the issues of the Dalit communities, women empowerment and the major issues of the society.
Since the internship was during the winter breaks we also had to go out for night surveys where we had to go and talk to the people who were sleeping on the roads and also count them and check whether proper facilities were provided in the Shelters provided by the Government also known as ‘Rain Basera’. We also had organised some peaceful strikes.
We had also gone to Kota for a survey of the Implementation of the laws related to women at workplace and enquired about the women’s cell in the coaching institutes for prevention of sexual harassment at workplace act.
Work environment and people
The working environment was very positive and nice. Since most of the students were of the 1st year so it was easy to make new friends. Our head Ms.Kavita Srivastav was also a very supportive and disciplined person and she worked really hard for us to have an amazing experience
Best things
The best thing was that everyday was something different and new.
We rarely knew what was planned for the day and it was kind of exciting.
I myself had never seen Jaipur ever the way I saw it during the course of my internship.
Bad things
Very less holidays and also have to work on Sundays.
Stipend
No stipend
Biggest Lessons
The biggest lesson I had got from my internship was that not everyone is born lucky and that even after 70 years of independence, India is still facing problems of discrimination and bias which needs to stop right now and it’s our generation who needs to bring about the change.
