Panasia Advocates & Consultants, Hyderabad, 2 interns
Application Process with contact details
The internship at Panasia was ideally an opportunity for me to work with Senior Advocate of the AP & Telangana High Court, Mr. Srinivas Sivaraju.
I applied by dropping an email with my CV and cover letter into his inbox at ssivaraju@gmail.com
He responded within 2 days and after a brief telephonic conversation I was given the internship.
Duration of Internship and timings
June 1, 2015 – July 5, 2015
First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure
At Panasia I was given my own desk and PC on the first day and had an interactive session with Srinivas Sir where he asked me what I wished to gain at the end of my internship.
The office is a small space in Banjara Hills right at the heart of the city and although it is small, it had a whole range of books I could access.
Main tasks
Worked under Senior Advocate Srinivas Sivaraju, partner at Panasia Advocates & Consultants.
Prepared a legal brief on the genesis of the reservation system in India besides assisting with legal research on a bevy of areas like Constitutional Law, Mining Law, etc., and assisted in the drafting of a Terms of Use contract for the C2C e-commerce client SabRentKaro.
Also regularly paid visits to the High Court of Andhra Pradesh & Telangana and observed court proceedings.
Work environment and people
The work environment at Panasia was slightly dull due to the shortage of interns but the best part was I had my own desk and PC assigned to me.
The work timings were from morning 10 to afternoon 2 and again evening 5 to 8. This got tiring sometimes, travelling back and forth.
Best things
At Panasia a few of the perks were:
– I had access to an extensive set of books and legal resources
– I worked personally with Srinivas Sir, the Senior Advocate, and at the end of almost each day he would discuss my work with me giving me constructive feedback and life lessons
– He would on certain days let me sit in on client meetings as well
Bad things
None
Stipend
None
Biggest Lessons
Panasia, being my first internship, I realised I enjoyed doing office related work more than doing rounds of the court. So I guess litigation isn’t my piece of cake.
I also learnt quiet a bit about the law profession from my interactions with Srinivas Sir.
However being a fledgling law student I frankly didn’t get to fully grasp my work or take it seriously and as a result I didn’t gain much from this internship.
Accommodation
Stayed at home.
Office Timings
The timings at Panasia were from 10 AM to 2 PM and then again from 5 PM to 8 PM from Monday to Saturday.
It was fairly relaxed and we were allowed a leave every two weeks.
