Application Process with contact details
At first we went to OHRC and asked them for the procedure. They suggested us the dates and asked us to get an internship recommendation letter from the Principal of our college. and after getting permission from our Principal Sir we submitted it to Ravi Sir at the office.
Duration of internship and timings
22nd August, 2016 – 17th September, 2016
First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure
OHRC is a part of Toshali Bhawan where we have many other offices such as the the Directorate of Public Prosecution, Arbitration Tribunal, Women’s Commission. the office isn’t a big one. It is compact having two portions. One included the court room and other members of the office had their working cabins.
The other portion consisted of the reception, waiting room for the parties of case, conference hall and chambers of other important officials.
Main tasks
We used to sit in court room during the case hearing and in between the cases the Hon’ble Justice asked us questions regarding the case and sometimes some provisions of the law which are widely used such as questions based on Cr.P. C, Evidence, C.P.C, I.P.C, Constitution.
The court used to get over by 1:30 and we were allowed for half an hour break. After that were were given case files to read and make reports on that.
Work environment and people
At the office everyone is quite friendly and understanding. They immediately help out with any small problem or query we have thus making us feel comfortable.
Best things
Sometimes the Hon’ble Justice gave us some important knowledge about various topics which we didn’t know helping us to gain more knowledge and we were allowed to have a look at the case files that was going on thus making it clear how to apply provisions of law in real life.
Bad things
There is no canteen as a results lunches has to be skipped or one has to walk really far to have food other than that there is nothing bad about the office.
Stipend
None
Biggest Lessons
Being honest and sincere to yourself and the work allotted definitely reflects to the authorities.
