First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure

The first day I was introduced to the students. I talked to them for hours about their school, their friends and family. Then I was explained about my role and responsibility in the organisation.

The organisation had the best of facilities for the blind students. They took proper care of the needs of each and every student which is not an easy thing to do.

Main tasks

The main task was to teach students. I had to learn Braille. But I was no expert so I was mainly assigned classes where I had to teach basic alphabets. It was very difficult to teach initially. But as I got accustomed to the subject and the environment it was the best thing that could have happened to me.

Work environment and people

The people in the organisation were extremely sweet and helpful. They were very approachable. I never thought twice before going and talking to them for any kind of help.

The students were all very supportive. They followed my instructions and cooperated with me to make this experience last a lifetime.

Best things

The best things were the children and the teachers and the relationship that they shared. I have not seen something as beautiful as this before.

The positive attitude of the students taught me :- “Life is about laughing and living, in good and bad times, getting through whatever comes your way.”

Office Timings

The organisation works in two shifts. One is the morning shift and the other one is the afternoon shift. I was assigned afternoon shift. The timings are strict because it is like a school and they have proper schedule so if you are late then that would harm the working of the schedule as a whole.
