Duration of internship and timings

20th May, 2014 to 21st July, 2014.

First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure

Since, on the confirmation call, the Advocate gave me the regular reporting time to his High Court chamber was at 10:30. So I was well formally dressed for the first day.

The very first day, only the basic formalities at the Delhi High Court were fulfilled such as filling up the form for daily pass and later the monthly pass to enter the Court’s premises. Then, the Advocate introduced me to his associates where they asked me to maintain a small diary to note down their daily matters, next hearing dates etc.

The chamber is as usual surrounded with various Acts and books. Then, the office is located at Lajpat Nagar which is quite convenient from the Lajpat Nagar Metro Station.

Main tasks

The Advocate was a Civil Lawyer, dealing with property cases mostly.

So my main tasks at the High Court was to visit the court and observe the hearings.

At the office, I was assigned with research work and the associates taught me drafting various legal notices.

Work environment and people

The Advocate is very polite and friendly and the other associates are also cordial and kind.

Best things

All were cordial and taught me everything like their student.

Bad things

I was just taught to draft the notices, where I always wanted to draft one on my own.

Stipend

No Stipend.

Biggest Lessons

That was my first litigation internship and where I actually enjoyed learning.
