Duration of internship and timings
1st June, 2014 – 30th June, 2014
First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure
First day was good but the ambiance didn’t give me any strict feeling. Since it is a government organisation, I guess you can yourself imagine the infrastructure.
The coordinator asked us to fill the formalities. We were divided into groups and were asked to jot down our law-related areas of interest. Later the Head briefed us about research, surveying etc.
Main tasks
One out of those topics we jotted down, was assigned to us for group project. My group got ‘Juvenile Delinquency and condition of juveniles in juvenile homes’. We had to do research on it, prepare a project and survey format for the authorities and children and go to various institutions for surveying. Time to time we had to give the details to the head regarding our work.
Work environment and people
Work environment was okay-ish. We got to learn from students who belonged to other institutions as we were teamed up with them.
Best things
Visiting juvenile homes, was a great experience. We were given authority letters on behalf of MPHRC which we had to further show to the respective authorities before surveying. I was proud representing myself as their member. For survey on larger scale we got to visit observation home in Indore as well.
Bad things
You only learn research work and survey.
No court visits or work like drafting etc.
Stipend
No stipend
Biggest Lessons
If you are really dedicated to your field, I’d suggest do authentic survey. We actually get to learn a lot from this and once you’re done with work you have a lot time to enjoy!
Any Other Thing
Students should go to MPHRC for internship in 1st or 2nd year only, because you only learn how to research here.
