I took a Recommendation Letter from the college and applied personally by going to their office.

Duration of internship and timings

Duration: 3 weeks.

Timings: 10:30 am – 4:00 pm.

Lunch time 1:30 pm – 2:30 pm.

First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure

Does this organization actually work? –  The first impression and the first question in my mind.

No formals, wear what you want.

To confirm your internship you have to go to the Director of MPHRC to sign the documents (which consist of your passport photo, 1 form given by the organization, recommendation letter from the college, a photocopy of college identity card).

He will not mind who comes and who does not. He will sign without seeing anything.

Infrastucture is quite good, many NGOs have their offices in the same building.

Main tasks

No main tasks as such.

Have to go for field research.

But it’s fun, as we used to go for ‘field research’ and usually just ran back home.

The project had to be submitted  3 days before the internship ended. And these projects were usually group projects.

Work environment and people

All the interns sat in the same room and the work environment of office was bad.

No officer was present in the office.

Only the librarian worked and handled the interns.

The library was good.

Best things

There was DB mall near MPHRC (walking distance!) 🙂

Interns from different institutes mingle with each other to know people from different colleges.

We went to Central Jail for surveys of prisoners. Field research was awesome.

There was no workload.

Bad things

Office was bad.

No water supply.

Canteen food was bad.

Stipend

No stipend.

Biggest Lessons

I realised my love for social work.

Also, never come to this office again.
