First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure

An amazing personality to meet and work under. The office is large and spacious (it is a High Court).

Main tasks

I was given a task to work in the Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh, survey the area, talk to people and make a report on what kind of problems the locals are facing and what are they expecting from the Judiciary.

Along with that, I was tagged with the Legal Service Authority to kick start the ‘para legal volunteer program’.

I and my co-interns helped in training the para legal volunteer’s and thus started off the program.

Work environment and people

People in the office are super friendly, in the field too we were greeted by many officers of the Judiciary and they all were very co – operative and helpful.

Best things

The field work wore a color of a vacation and Kangra being such a beautiful place made it look like a planned vacation tour of rural hilly area.

Bad things

Nothing !

Biggest Lessons

Judiciary is trying its best to put in place effective services for the people but people themselves do not want to get involved in ‘court-kachehri’.
