Application Process
The application process was pretty easy, I sent a mail to the organization attaching the bonafide letter issued by my college. they took a week’s time to revert back.
You can apply to the organization through volunteer@janaagraha.org
Duration of internship and timings
16th July, 2012 -14th August, 2012
First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure
As this was my first internship, I was a bit nervous but as I reached the office the atmosphere was good and the HR introduced me to the other professionals working the organization. They asked a few basic questions like which college and the year of study.
Later we were told about the interns monitoring system where we had to login when we started the work for the day and logout when we left the office. This was done to keep a track of how many hours an intern has worked in the office.
Main tasks
The work mainly involved was research related as it is one of the best NGO of the city. I worked the first 15 days providing research support for Urban Governance Index Report which was being prepared by the organization and the other half providing support for analyzing Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike’s 2012-13 budget.
Work environment and people
The work environment is mostly casual but sometimes when there is lots work given they expect us to behave in an professional manner.
Best things
The interns were given work promptly and were never made to sit idle. It was a very enriching experience. And not forget the coffee which was given thrice a day as a stress buster.
Bad things
Sometimes there would be too much of work. And the timings are very strict, once I logged out early and left the office and within 15 mins the HR calls me up and asked me to return back to the office.

Biggest Lessons
It made me understand how to work and behave like a professional which helped me a lot in my future internships.
