First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure

My application for the internship got approved the very same day, so I could join without any delay. They weren’t many formalities to comply with.

Observing the court proceedings.

Work environment and people

People at work very supportive and cooperative. They inquired from time to time if I was comfortable or if I needed anything.

Best things

Although not of much importance in terms of work and learning experience, the campus of the AP Lokayukta is what attracts one at the first glance. A peaceful place with a wide variety of trees. One can easily feel the temperature drop by a few degrees as one walks in.

I got to read research work done by students abroad and in India, on the concept of Ombudsmen, how it works in India and outside etc. I had interned here at the end of my first semester and that was the first piece of legal research I got my hands on to.

Bad things

It is a tribunal and all the cases are of similar nature. One is bound to get bored soon. Also, proceedings would end very soon, that is around lunch time, leaving half of the day to be jobless. And even during the half of the day that you are at work, there isn’t really much to be done.

Biggest Lessons

Exciting or not, a beautiful work premises is guaranteed with a job at the AP Lokayukta. On a more serious note, research interns would find this place more useful than regular interns.
