Duration of internship and timings
April 2013 – May 2013
First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure
First Impression? I remember I walked into the office on the first day of my internship and it appears to be a Saturday. No one was in office. There is a separate conference room for interns. I was asked to sit and wait there by the staff. I get a call from Sir, asking me to research on something and then suddenly he asked , “are you noting it down?” and I made the biggest mistake of my life by saying no.
I was showered with so many compliments like, you should feel lucky that you are an intern in my office, I am so disappointed in you and what not. So, I believe it wasn’t much of an ‘impression’ on either of us.
Main tasks
The good part of the internship is that you are loaded with a lot of work. It will give you every kind of exposure from working on family matters to court visits, corporate cases. It is a good learning experience, especially in your 2nd and 3rd year.
Work environment and people
Everybody in the office is really friendly except Mr. Rajan Narayan Sir. You will have a really good time with other interns and associates, only if your ignore all the yelling.
Best things
You get the best of both world, from litigation to corporate. Tremendous amount of work and progressive research. Great exposure of litigation.
Bad things
I was almost yelled at for everything and were the co-interns. You can still sit around and bitch about it with anyone in the office. It will really make you feel better, no really!!
Stipend
No stipend.
Biggest Lessons
Never ever enter Sirs room without a pen and a notebook. Make sure that you act like you are noting down everything even if that is something as unimportant as what did he eat for dinner.
