Name. College. Year of Study
Hatim Hussain, Gujarat National Law University, Gandhinagar
Name of the organization. City
Firdos Mirza and Associates, Nagpur
Duration of the internship
One Month. November – December
How big was the office? Team strength?
The infrastructure of the office is one of the finest in the city of Nagpur. The team comprises of several associates, each of them specialized in several areas along with Advocate Firdos Mirza, one of the best lawyers in Vidarbha region.
Application procedure. Internship contact details
The application procedure is based on CV, followed by an interview with associates.
Duration in weeks. No. of days/week. Timings
The internship ordinarily spans for a period of 4 weeks . The interns are required to visit the High Court/ District courts during morning hours whereas the office timings span from 6.00 pm to 9.30 pm.
The interns are expected to attend the office everyday including Sundays, however, the timings for weekends are pretty relaxed.
Accommodation: how, where, how was it?
My family stays in Nagpur, so there wasn’t any inconvenience. However, there are dorms and hostels located near the office where accommodation is available.
First impression. First day, formalities etc.
Initially, I was asked to report directly to the High Court premises on the first day as the office timings begin after court hours.
The first thing you notice about the office is how eccentric it is and how much thought has been put into everything you can see in the office.
There are numerous books on various laws available everywhere. I was asked by the receptionist to sit in office of one of the associates
Later I was asked by the Tejas sir, who is one of the associate to tell him about the practice areas that I would prefer to work in.
The office strictly follows ‘work hard, party harder’ ideology, and office hours are intense, with occasional fun to cheer everybody up.
It is just like a family with everybody being eager and happy to help at any time. Further, everyone at office is just like a friend, so you have no feeling of awkwardness or fear,
All in all, it was one of the best places I have interned.
Main tasks
I was asked to prepare a research study on Pharmaceutical crimes in India.
Furthermore, I had to visit the High Court every day. Apart from this, the associates also occasionally ask you to draft the cases.
Work environment, people
Best people I have known for a long time. All of them are very friendly and helpful.
Best things
The occasional parties, the jolly environment during office hours and the desire to teach among the associates and Mirza sir alike.
Bad things
Nothing as such
What did you do to chill? Co-interns, colleagues
We used to go partying after a major breakthrough in a case, or sometimes for no reason.
There weren’t any co-interns at that time and I used to hang out with the associates themselves.
Stipend/ month
None
Anything else you’d like to tell
In case you are looking to intern here, apply beforehand.
