First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure
The first day at the office was exciting. The team was warm.
After the introduction with the associates we were introduced to the Principal Associate [corrected] Namitha Matthews who is looking after the Corporate litigation and then to the Managing Partner Mr. Sacchin Puri.
Editor’s note: We’ve been told by the law firm that Mr. Sachhin Puri is no longer associated with the law firm. The internship was probably done around 2 and a 1/2 years ago.
They have basically 3 offices two in Jor Bagh and other one in Defence Colony. The firm Basically works for real state company.
Main tasks
The UCOl, Delhi team comprises of 10 members. The major work areas includes Corporate Law Litigation, Mergers and Amalgamations, Corporate Debt Restructuring, Real State, Civil suits, etc.
The associates allot interns to work on different matters. The work done there includes Research on various topics pertaining to Company law and other major legislations, Drafting of various documents viz. Petitions, Applications, Rejoinders, Agreements and also assisting Associates and Partners in various multifarious litigations.
Besides we also visited the High Court of Delhi and the Company Law Board frequently.
Work environment and people
The professionalism was intensely evident. The associates gave a time limit to complete the allotted tasks. Though the work done was not of much labour but was expected to be accurate from our end.
There were times when I stayed back late in order to complete my targets. So, the environment was a one of nurturing character.
Best thing
If you are a cricket lover then you can enjoy over here because the office consist of various trophies of Won Cricket Match.
There was a lot good but the best was that the associates showed faith in me and even gave the opportunity to discuss issues with clients in conferences.
Bad things
That the office kitchen only provided us with only coffee/tea and no meals.
Stipend
Rs. 3500 for 15 days
Law firm’s response: As per discretion.
Biggest Lessons
The biggest lessons learnt from the firm were that no case is big enough not to crack. I wish to had spent some more time there.
