Name of Organisation, Location, Team Strength
Shri Mahendra Singh Singhvi, Senior Advocate, Rajasthan High Court (Jodhpur), 4
Application Process
It is more of a direct contact process.
Those interested can personally visit the office and secure an internship.
Duration of internship and timings
8th December to 31st December
10 AM to 4 PM (At the High Court)
6 PM to 9 PM (At office)
First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure
Nothing much was asked to do at the first day.
I was just asked to visit the Rajasthan High Court in the morning and attend a list of Sir’s and the other advocate’s cases lined up for the day.
Main tasks
Just like the first day, I had to attend the Court proceeding in the morning, i.e. during the Court hours.
I was supposed to attend my Advocate’s matters in the Court and was free to sit in any other court room if free. (but such an opportunity was hardly ever awarded).
After this, I had a 2-hour break where I could go home, relax for a while and come back to the office this time to read the matter lined up for the next day.
Thus there were only two main tasks to be done.
Doubts, if any, arising from the reading of those files could cleared by asking any of the other advocates.
Work environment and people
Work environment was pretty good in the sense that no once really cared of what you did throughout the day.
Maybe once or twice someone would come up for a random check upon you but apart from that, absolutely nothing.
Best things
It was a very free internship with quite a bit to learn.
The library at sir’s office was a huge one and thus there was a lot to read during free time.
Bad things
Harsh timings.
Covering a lot a distance twice a day with a very short break in between.
No stipend.
Stipend
No stipend
Biggest Lessons
Constitutional law was one subject I learned the most here.
Apart from that, by visiting the High Court everyday, I understood a lot about the manner in which one is supposed to argue, learning from the court manners to the actual arguments.
