Application Process
I got this internship through our college placement cell.
Duration of internship and timings
16th May, 2016 to 16th June, 2016
First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure
The first impression was lasting one and it was entirely different as I thought it to be. They have a big building situated in Tughlaqabad Institutional Area, New Delhi.
First day formalities was not that much as we only asked to do a signature everyday as an attendance.
First we met with the HR of the PRIA, Sir Joseph, who introduced us with the associates work there and then we met our supervisor Nandita Mam , who according to me is the best supervisor, I have ever seen. After that we met the founder of PRIA, Mr. Rajesh Tandon, who was the modest of all, told us a glimpse about PRIA.
Main tasks
Every Intern got a task which could take a day or a week also and as soon as our task got completed, we get another one. The issue on which we all were working was ‘Sexual Harassment At Workplace’ and we got tasks relating to this agenda only and main tasks were of research only. The work we got there was really content one.
Some days were kept for field visits also and where we listened to their problems and tried to sort it out through the help of law, media etc. Our main motive was to bring all youth together to solve their own problems.
Our main motive was to create awareness about the sexual harassment at workplace and what women have rights, if they become victim of this.
Work environment and people
The work environment was relaxed but formal. Once given our tasks we were given complete discretion as to how we were to go about it. Of course, any doubts we had, were cleared by Nandita Mam. My fellow interns were really friendly and cooperative one.
Best things
The best thing was the food which was like home made that we got there and which was provided by PRIA only for free. This also include access to coffee machine whenever we wanted.
Biggest Lessons
Always keep a backup folder of your data saved on cloud, especially if the computer you are working on is not your your own.
