Application Process

The cover letter explained why I wanted to join the summer internship programme, and my interest in understanding the process of providing legal services.
A Recommendation/Introduction letter (original) from the Institution or College Head is required at the time of joining the internship.
Duration of internship and timings
Minimum period of internship is 30 days. Timings- 10 am to 5 pm.
First impression, First day formalities, Infrastructure
The very first day we had an orientation in which we were told about the workings and functions of national legal services authorities.
Also we were told that how the petitions were filed and were given the institutions guidelines booklet and bare act.
Infrastructure is comfortable and you can easily get a place for you and your laptop.
Main tasks
We were given petitions to read and report them.
Also we were audience to a video conference which was based on the child rights and their protection.
We were also asked to join and observe the proceedings.
They asked the interns to design posters and slogans, engaged the interns in discussions and in the end, a project report on a particular topic was assigned for getting the certificate.
Then we were given a schedule which stated our visits to different places like Patiala house Court, Juvenile Justice Board, Mediation Center Tiz Hazari, Tihar Jail, Parliament also.
Work Environment, People
A friendly environment and people around are ready to share the knowledge that they have.
Best things
Opportunity to experience National Lok Adalat.
Visits were fairly interesting.
We sat through court proceedings, saw how the Tihar jail system works, and the challenges being grappled with by the legal services cells in the courts.
Bad things
There was nothing which I disliked about the internship.

Law is more than just theoretical knowledge, it is more about practical application.c
