Duration of internship and timings

First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure

I was introduced to some of the junior associates and was alloted a mentor.

I was then taken to the interns room where I found about 4-5 others working on their computers.

Main tasks

Court visits.

Research work back at the office on the matters of civil laws, family laws and property law. I also got to draft written submissions.

Work environment and people

The best environment an internship could possibly have. The associates at the office are very cool and help out with any problems one might have.

Sir Sondhi might seem strict at the first instance, but he is quite apporachable.

Also, the clerk is pretty funny. The frequent funny fights the associates have with him in jest are entertaining to witness.

Best things

Mr. Sondhi undertakes all kinds of litigation. Thus, one gets work in all fields and is not restricted to one area. Plus, they take you along to witness arbitration proceedings at times.

The associates take the interns with them to courts in their cars and also, at time, drive them back to the office. Many a times, they also sponsored our lunches and bought us snacks.

Bad things

I really cannot think of anything bad about this internship.

Nil.

Biggest Lessons

Litigation seems to open up one’s perspective and everyday is a new learning experience – it provides people with legal challenges.

Arguing before the court and convincing the judge of your arguments is an experience one should have.
