First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure
The first impression was breathtaking. I was welcomed by the clerks and administrative staff. I have given a work station and was asked to wait till the Associates and Partners come. However, there are no as such first day formalities.
I was introduced to both the partners and the Associates. Miss Kakra – Managing Partner of the firm called me in her chamber and asked me about my previous internship experiences and other things. She made me feel very much like the part of the office. She herself gave me the first work to know the skills.
There was one friend of mine interning, who helped me a lot on everything. I was familiar with all of the staff within no time.
Main tasks
The firm specializes in Telecommunication matters, Oil and Gas, Civil, Criminal – basically they have work in many sectors. Ma’am believes that an intern should be exposed in all the sectors. So I was given the work in all the different sectors wherein they did not expect something very professional but still appreciated all the efforts and hard work that an intern puts in.
– Research work
– Drafting work
– Visit to TDSAT
– Drafting of reports and other things.
Work environment and people
The work environment is very COOL. Though they take their work very seriously, but all work and no play is not their policy. This would be a dream internship/job for everyone.
The Partners and Associates are very friendly in nature. I never felt like an intern under their guidance as they always treated us as a part of their family. So you can approach them any time with any difficulty and they will always be ready to help you out even with your silliest queries.
Best things
1. The best thing about this firm is that every person in the team treats you like one. I have heard many stories from my friends about their associates and senior partners grilling them during their internship, which thankfully I haven’t experienced here.
2. Lunch breaks: The whole K&T team sits together and have lunch (starting from the partners to the interns)
3. Nearby places to visit – Bengali sweets, Nathu’s, Connaught place is just 5 minutes walking.
Bad things
Nothing BAD exists in K&T.
Stipend
Perks are awarded as per the quality of work an intern provides.
Biggest Lessons
The biggest lesson I learnt here is that no work is small or big, it’s your willingness and your persistent nature that is assessed.
They won’t judge you upon your percentile but quality of your work. They don’t expect wonders from interns but basic things like proper formals, honesty and sincerity towards your work.
Any Other Thing
Though it’s a small firm, but it’s only K&T where you can gain true knowledge. It was one of my most productive internships and I would recommend this firm to those who are willing to learn. I would always be thankful Payal Ma’am and Ajay Sir who have actually put in so much of their time and dedication in moulding a person like me.
They’ve always been a support, a guiding light and a true inspiration for everyone. Sneha Ma’am, Tanya Ma’am, Akash sir, Sushant Sir, Sudhanshu sir and the whole K&T team is just super amazing and are some people who have helped me in growing professionally as well as in person.
