Name of Organisation, Location, Team Strength
Greenpeace, Pune, 15-20
Application Process
I applied to volunteer.in@greenpeace.org and I was reverted back by the Public Engagement Manager Ruth Dcosta in Mumbai.
I first had a phone interview after which I was given a 100-200 words assignment and then she got back to me and we half another Skype conversation where I interacted with an intern and was asked certain questions as to why and how I could contribute and after all stages I was chosen as a PE volunteer for Pune.
Email: ruth.dcosta@greenpeace.org
Duration of internship and timings
Duration: Exact 1 month
Time: 9 am – 6 pm are office timings but preferred work hours are 6 hours only so I used to do it from 12-6.
First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure
First impression was good. I was given an induction and I also had a co-intern along with me.
The infrastructure is not too great in the Pune Office but they do serve good tea in the morning and evening.
I was made to introduce the Greenpeace team, and the work they do and what Greenpeace as an NGO does, the current campaigns and all.
Main tasks
I was happy with the fact that I was asked if I was okay with the tasks and rather they themselves asked me what I wanted to do.
Since I did the internship after my First Year I didn’t know much about law so I couldn’t ask for anything much so basically I was asked to observe fund-raising and help my co-intern conduct induction programs in housing societies and with multipliers and I read up a lot on the environmental issues that GP is dealing with around the world.
At the end of each day I was supposed to fill up a diary on Google doc about what I experienced and learned and another check form as to the timings and tasks accomplished.
Work environment and people
Really good and friendly people.
Very chilled out.
Best things
Free time.
Bad things
Not much of law related work.
Stipend
Nil- Reimbursement for the expenses incurred in office hours.
Any Other Thing
I suggest go for GP in Mumbai or Bangalore (they have legal department).
