Application Process
I did not have to go through any application process for this Internship as it was provided to us by the internship cell of our institution. All I needed to do was to send by CV to the internship cell with my preferences and I got the internship.
Duration of internship and timings
1st January, 2015 – 15th January, 2015
First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure
It was quite comfortable since we had a group of 10 students from our institute itself. There were common formalities like wearing formals and carrying a notepad every time. It was a well built Forum with 3 floors so the continous running up and down the stairs was pretty tiring.
Main tasks
Main tasks were to observe the hearing of the cases in all the Consumer Forums i.e. District Consumer Dispute Redressal Forum I, District Consumer Resdressal forum-II and State Consumer Dispute redressal Commision. we need to note down the observations and then be prepared for the questions by the respected Judge who further answers to any queries regarding the case.
Work environment and people
It was pretty formal working in the commission, however because of a group of friends we still managed to have fun. We even made friends with the steno and reader who then helped us to know more about the cases and questions to be asked by the Judge.
Best things
Best things were to learn about the Consumer Dispute Redressal Commissions procedure by heart and interacting with the Advocates which let us widen our knowledge and opened more internship opportunities. At times when the Judge used to scold advocates that was the time to laugh out loud.
Bad things
Yes there were few bad things too like when we were made to sit for long time to just wait for the Judge to come over for the question -answers round. sitting purposeless for long hours was just not done.
Stipend
No Stipend
Biggest Lessons
It was my first Internship so I learnt many lessons like how to behave in a formal environment. The way to present yourself in front of a Judge and talk to Advocates.
