Internship Experience @ BSES Rajdhani Power Ltd, New Delhi: Work on Electricity Related Matters

Timing: 9 AM to 5.30 PM

Procedure: 2 days and 2 rounds of interviews from Head office to Main office .

This was my first internship in corporate legal and enforcement department with High Court Department of BSES Rajdhani Power Limited under the Vice president of the company .

In the first two days, I cleared their interview after which I also  passed their eligibility criteria of scoring above 60%. After this, one call letter was issued along with one project report and attendance to be submitted on time.

In the beginning, you have want  to be obedient and to work in a way so as to  impress them. As a matter of fact, at most places people do extend their help and clarify their doubts, but that doesn’t mean you can escape from work. This is what I learnt here. The mantra is to keep asking for as much work as you can.

Main tasks

I was briefed about generation, distribution companies of electricity and occurrence of electricity theft.

How such thefts are resolved by bringing them to court and in civil or criminal proceedings. I learnt that, we have separate special courts for Electricity related matters in Delhi as well and they have both civil and criminal jurisdiction and powers.

I was briefed about the company and I was given Electricity Act and many landmark judgements.

Research on Electricity Act Definitions and Punishments

Comprehensive study of Arbitration ordinance 2015

Comprehensive study of Commercial court ordinance 2015

Comprehensive study of CAG Landmark judgement and other important judgements.

Delhi High Court vists and Lok Adalat vists

Civil Procedure Code

Transport and Accommodation

Nearest Metro station is Moolchand, walkable distance of hardly 200 meters. You can get PG’s in Noida City Centre or any nearest to metros in Delhi. The food is also quite reasonable.

Other things

The Lunch was amazing and added flavors with variety sharing was the Custom of the Company.

At the end of your internship period you will have to submit a work report of the tasks completed.
