Application Process
You have to download the Internship application form from the site of NGT. And then fill that form.
I submitted my form in the NGT office personally but one can send the application form by Post to their office. The details are mentioned in the application form as well.
First Day Formalities Initial Impressions
On the first day, all the Interns were to be Present in the office of Deputy Registrar at sharp 9:30 Am. After that, the Interns were asked to write an application as their joining letter.
The Deputy Registrar was on leave when I joined so we were asked to meet the Assistant Registrar and then he told us about NGT and its Working. And told us about the Compulsory Dress Code, the courtroom sessions and the main working of NGT. Then the interns were asked to go to server room for understanding the new web portal for E-Filling of the cases.
Main Tasks
The main tasks at the Internship in NGT were to visit the Court Rooms and see arguments of the lawyers. The interns were asked to file cases online and od E-Filling work as NGT is soon going to start online E-Filling system that’s why the Interns were asked to work on that portal and to upload the case files online. Each Intern was assigned with 20 Case Files. We were asked to read all those files and then upload them.
I along with 2 Co-Interns was lucky as there was some work of Chairperson Sir so the Legal Research Associates needed some help so I along with my 2 co-interns were asked to help them and in that we learned about various things.
We made compliance reports on various months and were asked to do research about various things such as scrap yard waste management, bio-medical waste management etc.
Good Things
The interns were given a separate room to work and you get to know about various things about the environmental laws. You see various good lawyers arguing in the Court.
As I saw Mrs. Pinky Anand (ASG) arguing on cases and Mr. Pinaki Mishra (Sr. Adv. and MP) arguing in the court. There are various cases listed in NGT and some good judgements were given in the Month of July 2019 in front of us.
Bad Things
There are no such bad things. But you get less work so you have to ask for work otherwise, you can chill.
Stipend
No Stipend
Accommodation Commute
I stayed at my Friend’s Flat but nearest Metro Station to NGT is Mandi House which is directly connected to Blue line and violet line so one can find PG’s and Flat’s in Lajpat Nagar, Moolchand, Laxmi Nagar, Nirman Vihar etc.
Other Info
NGT is situated on Copernicus Marg and there are various state bhawans near it like, Maharashtra Bhawan, Haryana Bhavan, Punjab Bhawan, etc.
So you can eat your lunch over there. And even the nearest among all is Baroda House which is the Head Quarter of North Western Railway and is having subsidised canteen, one can go and eat his/her food at very cheap rates.
India Gate is just at a walking distance from NGT office. So you can go and chill there with your co-interns.
