Application Process
As such, there is no application process but one can get a recommendation from any of the Advocates or Registrars so as to provide you with an opportunity to intern with a Justice of Supreme Court
First Day Formalities Initial Impressions
I was asked to report to the concerned Registrar of Justice in Supreme Court for verification of documents and formalities and then I was instructed to head and report at the office cum residence of Justice Arun Mishra at Tughlaq Road to meet his Personal Secretary Mr. Rakheja for further tasks to be assigned.
Main Tasks
I had to attend Court proceedings till 4 pm daily and around 1-2 pm on Miscellaneous days viz., Monday and Friday.
After that, I use to report at the Office cum Residence of Sir to explore his wonderful collection of books and to go through the orders passed by him. Then around 5 or 6 pm, I was free to head back home.
I learnt many things from Mr. Rahul Sharma, law researcher with Justice who was a mentor and more like an elder brother to me, who guided me with research work and the style of reading the case files of the apex court.
Good Things
I enjoyed all the perks of being an intern with the Justice which includes carrying your smartphone inside the court without any issues.
I had access to every Court of Supreme Court including the Chief Justice’s Court especially, wherein I witnessed live proceedings of many high profile cases like Rafale case and VVPAT scheme of Elections listed at that time.
I even had access to Judge’s Library in Supreme Court which was a huge library consisting of wide varieties of books and Journals of eminent authors from all corners of the world.
Bad Things
There wasn’t any bad thing at the internship. But one can feel a bit boredom at the office as there was no one to interact informally due to workload and time constraints.
Stipend
An opportunity to intern with the Justice of Supreme Court is itself much more valuable than any sort of stipend.
Accommodation Commute
I use to travel from Gurgaon daily and since it is a restricted and prime location for all Justices and high officials of Defence and Politics due to which a nearby accommodation is not possible at all.
Other Info
I use to take a walk for lunch to taste the street food and to explore the elegance of the surrounded locations and to enjoy my own company for the day.
