You can expect a quick reply. Moot court competitions and quality academic publications pursuant to international trade are highly regarded since the selection process is competitive.
First Day Formalities Initial Impressions
You get an orientation of the office, introduced to the Research Fellows, Senior Research Fellows, Legal Consultants, Professor, and Head Professor.
Since the internship relates to research in public policy issues affecting international trade, the initial 2-3 days are to be spent reading as much material available online and the library managed by CRIT to get used to the cutting edge issues prevalent in the field.
Main Tasks
Since the mandate of CTIL as an autonomous institution is to advise the Ministry of Commerce on technical trade-related issues, the work relates to emerging and highly debated issues in the field of international trade and investment.
I worked on International Taxation, Investment and Trade-Related Negotiations Currently going on in the WTO and at other international levels.
Good Things
The Centre gives you an in-depth research experience of technical trade-related issues and investigations conducted by the domestic industry and administering authorities. It gives you insight into learning diverse aspects prevalent in this field by researching critically by taking references from foundational negotiations of the WTO.
Bad Things
Nothing as such; however, you get to interact very less with Head Professor (Dr.) James J. Nedumpara, since he is always preoccupied with his work.
Frequent interaction with him becomes a necessity if one seriously considers pursuing a career in international trade and investment, not only because he is one of the authorities in the country on the subject but also because of his knowledge and experience that he gained throughout his academic journey.
