Name of the organization where you interned and its full address
Acuity Law, 506 Marathon Icon, off Ganpatrao Kadam Marg, Lower Parel, Mumbai 400013, India
How did I Apply?
I sent an email to florence[at]acuitylaw.co.in. I also had to call the firm three times over the next few weeks and sent a follow-up mail to the Partner before my internship was confirmed.
First Day formalities, First Impression
On my first day, I was welcomed and introduced to all the associates. I met the Partner only on the third day of the internship. Everyone is courteous and encouraging.
Main Tasks
I was given research work on mainly Insolvency Code matters and the Companies Act. The firm seems to have many Japanese clients. Some of the associates were researching aspects of cross border investments and share acquisitions. I was given good research work, and also accompanied one of the dispute resolution associates to the court on one of the days.
The nice things is that they make it a point to give feedback on your work. While the associates and Partner are strict about the quality of work, they also make you feel respected and make sure your voice is heard. I was very thankful for this. HR is also very warm and welcoming.
Good Things
We used to have good discussions at lunchtime, on various aspects of Law. The firm is in Lower Parel, lots of good street food is available at lunchtime. If you finish your work and inform the associates, you can leave by 7 pm without feeling bad or feeling that anyone is judging you.
Everyone treats you with respect. It is a good internship for exposure to both, corporate and litigation work and also a good environment where people are not negative or unnecessarily being unpleasant. Their attitude is very professional. In fact, I decided to do the internship because one of my friends who had earlier interned here, said it was the best internship she ever experienced. I had heard similar feedback from others as well.
Bad Things
None. Only traffic! Lower Parel gets very congested from around 5 pm to 7 pm. It is impossible to not get stuck in major jams and the local trains also get very crowded, so it is better to live closer to the office.
Accommodation
I stayed at a friend’s house. A few other interns had found PGs in Lower Parel itself.
