Name. College. Year of Study
Alok Gokhale, 4th Year NLUD
Name of The organisation
ARA Law, Bangalore office
Duration of the Internship
4 weeks (2nd January 2017 to 27th Feb 2017)
How big was the office? Strength?
The office is located in a fairly large bungalow in a nice part of town. The Bangalore office consists of one partner and three associates along with one support staff
Procedure for Application, Contact details.
I obtained this internship through my college RCC but had to give a telephonic interview before my application was approved.
My interview mainly revolved around my reasons for wanting to intern with ARA law as well as the work I had done in my previous internships. I got an email confirming my internship shortly after my interview.
Accommodation: how, where and how was it?
I am a Bangalore local, so I lived at home for the course of my internship. But you can find plenty of reasonable PGs around Indiranagar where the firm is located.
At any rate the firm is about a 15 minute walk from the Indiranagar Metro Station, so travel should not take too long as long as you live somewhere close to the metro line.
First Impression. First day Formalities.
The firm didn’t have too many formalities. On the first day of my internship I was shown my work station, informed about the procedures, work timings and what was expected of me.
Work environment and people
The work environment is professional without being stifling. The associates and partner are all extremely approachable and friendly. The associates make it a point to ensure that you are kept busy with work at any given point of time.
Main Tasks
My main tasks involved conducting research for specific client requests as well as for the general knowledge management of the firm.
This also involves preparing briefs for any significant regulatory updates that happened while I was interning with the firm.
You are also expected to make a presentation on your last day, upon any topic that has significance to the practice areas of the firm. I mainly researched on various SEBI, RBI and DIPP notifications.
Best Things
The work is enjoyable and helps build up a knowledge base in commercial law. The personal interaction with the associates was also a big bonus of the internship.
Bad Things
There was nothing bad as such about this internship.
Stipend
Rs. 5000
