First Day Formalities
I reached Jabalpur a day prior and was called at the office in the evening by the associates. There I met Advocate Siddharth Gupta Sir and he asked me to report the next day morning, sharp at 9 am in the office. Thereby my internship began. I visited court, observed proceedings over there and then came to the office for doing research work.
Work and Environment
I experienced a professional working environment at SVS Associates. Their associates namely Advocate Amit Garg and Advocate Shubham Shrivastav were very supportive and helpful. The daily tasks are allotted to everyone at the office. You have to be very sure to complete the task before deadlines.
Siddharth Sir personally gives a good amount of research work to interns on various topics. You will be given a number of cases to study and analyse them. Accordingly, the cases & files allotted will be the one whose matter has been in the court as per the daily matter cause list. There is well-updated library which helped me a lot during research work. I grasped practical knowledge and it was a great time working with them.
Timings
9:00 am: Office
11:00 am to 5:00 pm: High Court
7:00 pm to 10:30 pm: Office
The timings might seem horrible but it is worthy enough and I really had a great enriching experience.
Stipend
The stipend is provided on basis of performance. I received Rs. 3K at the end of the internship which was a miracle for me.
Co-Interns
When I began my internship, there was no intern at that time but after in the month of January, a co-intern joined me, Tanya Saxena, 2nd year, NLIU Bhopal.
Positives
There were many positive things happened, some of them are highlighted:
1) Daily Court/Tribunal Visits
2) Interaction with Siddharth Sir and his associates
3) Research Work and Drafting
4) The Stipend
Negatives
There was no bad or negative things except finding accommodation which was a bit difficult.
Accommodation and Travel
My Hostel was in Sadar Bazaar which was walking distance from the office. I travelled most of the time with associates to the court.
