Name of the intern: Rahul Kapoor, Faculty of Law, University of Delhi, 2nd year
How big was the office? A dedicated floor at Patiala House court complex. There are about 20 people (lawyers + Staff).
Application procedure. I applied online (http://dlsa.nic.in/)
Duration: 2 Weeks
First day. Lectures by executive members of DLSA.
Main tasks (in detail)
Our task was to observe the working of DLSA.
Each day we went to a new venue (including a NGO, GO, Jails)
Work environment, people
We went to communities and interacted with people.
We are a team of 9 and all of us coordinated well.
Best things?
We learned a lot and got to know how Govt. provides legal aid and also observed the implementation of various Govt. policies.
Bad things?
One thing which DLSA lacks is coordination.
We sometimes wasted our time in finding the venue.
What did you do to chill? Co-interns, colleagues
As there was a new venue everyday so after our work we use to explore the nearby area (like monuments or market etc)
Stipend/ month
We were intimated by organization about the same but I can’t disclose it here.
Anything else you’d like to tell: One who wants to start legal aid society at college level must intern with DLSA.
Biggest lessons: All efforts are not going into vain, there is still some hope left.
