First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure
An orientation session was conducted on the first day by the executive members of DLSA.
We were briefed about the whole internship programme which was designed for us.
Main tasks
Field visits to NGO’s.
Visited Police stations and prisons. Interacted with the prison authorities to understand the system.
Visited the Institute of Human Behaviour and Allied Sciences (IHBAS) and observation homes for boys and interacted with the members of the Child Welfare Committee to understand the reasons for criminal behaviours among the youth and juvenile delinquency.
We also visited the Tihar Jail.
Work environment and people
The staff of DLSA is very kind and approachable. They are always ready to help.
Best things
The best thing about this internship was that, I actually got a chance to see the real working of the system. It was very informative.
Bad things
Sometimes there was no coordination between the groups, so we had to waste our time because of the other members.

Biggest Lessons
Since I did this internship in my first year of law school, it was very fascinating for me to see the actual working of the various systems.
Accommodation
I have relatives in Delhi so I was staying with them.
Office Timings
9 am to 5 pm. Sometimes, we used to get free early. It depends on the type of field visit.
