Duration of internship and timings
March – April 2016
First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure
I was very keen to work under such a named Advocate as it was very first internship. I tried to give my best. My first impression was excellent or can be called “epic”!
The formalities included a form which needs to be filled from the High Court office, consent of the Advocate is must while filling the form as this from is required to enter into the High Court premises. The form is quite lucid and clear only the basic information about the individuals is required. College ID card is must.
Main tasks
Main tasks were to read the files of the cases which deals with the various problems either Civil or Criminal. After reading the case files, I used to go to see the court room number and the time when the case will start. After reading the case, Sir used to ask us about the case.
Then I used to go along with Sir in the specified Court room number to understand the case practically. I was given a diary on which, I used to write whatever I have learnt all day long regarding the case. The task was also to bring the books or files, photocopy of notes, stamp or files, etc.
Work environment and people
Work environment was really very good. People were cooperative and helpful. Though it’s a High Court and the schedule is quite busy there. Thus, you can’t find a space to have fun.
Best things
The best thing involved good working environment, cooperation between the individuals, a good canteen facility and all. Discipline is must while going to the High Court. You need to be in proper uniform and the rules and regulations are to be strictly followed.
Bad things
Sometimes, during the court proceedings the judges were not audible.
Also, sometimes S.C. Gupta Sir had no time to listen to our doubts as there was a lot of workload on him.
There was a parking problem for four wheelers.

Biggest Lessons
My biggest lesson was that doing an internship for a law student is the most important thing. Reading books will be of no use if we don’t see how the practical things are done in the court. I have also learnt that nothing is impossible. Take a step and follow your dreams and goals!

The timings of the office work from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and they were relaxed.
