First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure

The Chamber is situated a 5, Old Post Office Street, Kolkata- 700001.

It is a very small officer but ample amount of space for conducting daily affairs of the chamber. Sir asked me about my college and year of studying. He then told me that to be a good lawyer, one needs to know everything about the legal profession and must be able to do all sorts of work because when it comes to litigation, no work is small or big and our main aim is to serve our client`s needs.

Main tasks

Since Mr. Chakraborty is a bank lawyer, I was given tasks mostly relating to DRT. Like filing of cases with put-up petitions, preparing evidence on affidavits and submission of the same. Drafting deeds of Conveyance, Lease, Gift, Trust and Partnership and procedure for Registration of Property at ADSR.

Work environment and people

The people in his chamber especially the associates were very helpful. One of the associates, Surath Chakraborty, was extremely helpful and it was under his guidance that I learnt most of the procedures and he always clarified my doubts and taught me new things.

Best things

The chamber even though a small one had an ambience of learning which made me grow as a law student. The helpful nature of the associates and guidance of Mr. Chakraborty himself was something to look upto.
